My skin is very light or VERY VERY WHITE! If I try to tan without sunscreen I just burn and peel, any suggestions that don't involve spray tan or tanning beds? How can I get a tan without using spray tans or tanning beds.?
Try tanning for 30 minutes a day for about a week so u get more of a gradule tan without burning. also you could get sun screan or lotion with tanning optimizers.
thats what i did and im very very white and now every one compliments my tan! =DHow can I get a tan without using spray tans or tanning beds.?
My two alternative options as advice:
1) Get 20 minutes of sun every day or every other day with a low spf lotion or oil (spf 2-4 - the stronger the sun, the higher the spf!). 20 minutes is not a long time out in the sun for sunbathers but it's sufficient enough for melanin production in your skin to get stimulated (melanin is type of pigment that ultimately browns the skin i.e. tan). This should help your skin to start the process of gradually building a tan, over time you can build up to an hour of exposure and so on (but you should still use spf even if it's low). Make sure you moisturise after exposure with a good moisturiser like body butter or aftersun lotion. Just to warn you, not every skin type can necessarily tan successfully.
2) Use a moisturiser that has a hint of sunless bronzer and moisturise every day (especially after showers/bath). Tinted moisturisers are generally designed to help gradually build an effective fake tan whilst preventing streaking as showering/bathing tends to even out the colour throughout the process. It's also easier to build a fake tan this way as it's not as messy and is easy to apply like any moisturising lotion Start with lotions for fair skin, and then move to ones for medium-dark skin if you wanted to get darker.
