Nothing dramatic, just wanting to get a nice light glow. I'm pretty fair skinned, so a bed would be a no-no, as I burn quite easily and when I wear sunblock I don't get an ounce of color. My skin tone's a very difficult one to tan unfortunately, probably because I have freckles.
What are some things I should keep in mind? This is my first one, and I hear that booths are a nightmare. Also, on average, how long does it last?Thinking about getting a spray tan for back to school?
What you might want to do is call a few places and ask them all the question that you need ask them, also ask them how they handle a situation where one has freckles and what they predict the out come to be.Thinking about getting a spray tan for back to school?
Then don't do a spray tan, get DOVE tinted moisturizer.
This will give you a healthy glow and you will be able to stop before the color gets too dark/streaky/orange.
the problem is that self tanner is brown and over top white skin it blends to orange. The tinted moisturizers have very very little self tanner (dehydroxyacetone) therefore it gradually builds color as you use it daily. This is way you can stop before its too late.
SOME booths are nightmares if you can, go to a salon that carries the California Spray Tan Systen. (DONT DO MYSTIC!) this solution is sprayed soooo lightly that it penetrates into the pores rather then sits on top of the skin. this looks very natural!
Before ever doing a spray or self tanner, you MUST shower and exfoliate prior to your session. This will remove the dead skin build up (really scrub those knees and elbows!!) and prevent blotchniess and streaks. Then shower the NEXT DAY to remove the excess dye that didnt absorb so you dont look too dark or ';dirty';. Then moisturize twice a day to extend the life of your tan!
On average they last between 5-8 days, fading gradually.
Remeber tho! If your pale your WHITE skin + the BROWN bronzer makes a blend of ORANGE. so dont choose too high of a level (too dark) or get a base tan underneath for best results.
i would actually recommend using tanning lotions that make your skin darker over spray tans. Just make sure to rub it in well!
Go to a salon and get it professionally done, it'll last about 6 weeks.
